Program Overview
The Theatre Education program provides students with a broad range of knowledge and experience in theatre specifically designed to help prepare them to teach Theatre Arts at the secondary level. The courses listed here are complemented by additional teaching and education courses offered by Drake’s School of Education in preparation for teacher certification.
B.F.A. Degree Requirements
The Theatre Education program provides students with a broad range of knowledge and experience in theatre specifically designed to help prepare the student to teach Theatre Arts at the secondary level.
Students pursuing a B.F.A. in Theatre Education must also pursue a B.S.E. in Secondary Education to be licensed to teach. Students must also have faculty mentors in both the Department of Theatre Arts and the School of Education.
In addition to programmatic requirements, students are responsible for satisfying all requirements of the Drake Curriculum, including Areas of Inquiry (AOI).
Student must also satisfy university graduation requirements for all undergraduate students.
