Program Overview

The Montessori Education program is a partnership between the Drake University School of Education and Des Moines Public Schools (DMPS). This 35-credit hour degree program is designed to develop teachers to meet the needs of students in a Montessori learning environment. This program focuses on building a strong foundation in a Montessori approach to teaching and learning. Upon successful completion of the degree and Montessori testing,  candidates can secure Montessori certification Elementary I and II (Students aged 6-12).

The Montessori degree is comprised of a blend of Montessori philosophy, practice, and content area approaches. Application of learning is central to program outcomes.
