Program Overview

The only fully-online data analytics master’s program in the state, Drake’s Master of Data Analytics Leadership will prepare you to utilize key business data to solve operational, tactical, and strategic organizational problems; to understand data-related laws and ethics; and to lead data analytics projects and teams.


Program Requirements

The data analytics leadership master’s program consists of 30 credits and can be completed in two years, attending part-time. (Non-degree seeking students have the option to earn a Certificate in Data Analytics by taking the five core courses.)

Admission

To apply for admission to Drake’s fully online data analytics leadership program:

  • Complete the online application.
  • Submit your official transcripts from all previously attended colleges or universities. Official transcripts are prepared and sent by the institution in question and received by Drake University in a sealed envelope. Transcripts mailed directly to the student must remain in the sealed envelope to be considered.

  • Submit an electronic copy of your résumé or curriculum vitae.
  • Submit a typed, one-page essay detailing how a graduate education at Drake University will help you reach your academic and professional goals.
  • Submit contact information for two professional recommendations.
  • Submit an official entrance exam score from one of the following exams:
    • Graduate Record Exam (GRE)
    • Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)

Entrance Exam Waiver

The entrance exam is automatically waived if you meet one of the three conditions below.

  • You are a Drake University CBPA undergraduate alumnus from within the last five years and have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher.
  • You are a Drake University CBPA current undergraduate student with cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and have completed 90 semester credits.
  • You hold a master’s or terminal degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher from a U.S. regionally accredited institution.

The entrance exam waiver will also be automatically waived if you meet all of the conditions below.

  • You have five years of progressive post-graduate work experience.
  • You have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher from a U.S. regionally accredited institution.
  • You have least 9 semester credits of undergraduate quantitative coursework.
    • Quantitative coursework may include courses in math, statistics, economics or other quantitative oriented courses.

International Students
If a student earned her/his undergraduate degree outside of the United States, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required. Scores dated within the last two years are acceptable and must be reported directly from the testing agency. Minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 213 on the computer-based exam, 550 on the paper-based exam, or 79-80 on the Internet-based exam. Minimum acceptable IELTS score is 6.5. Minimum scores on each section of reading, writing, speaking, and listening may be required.

Transfer Credits
Students may transfer up to nine credit hours from another AACSB accredited graduate program. All transfer credits must be earned with a grade of B- or higher, must directly relate to the program of study, and must fall within the five-year time frame for program completion. Transfer credits will be applied to the degree program upon successful completion of at least one term of enrollment in the program.

Non-Degree Admission
A Certificate in Data Analytics can be achieved by taking the five core MDAL courses.  The certificate is not transcripted (no degree awarded) and students are not eligible for financial aid (non-degree seeking).
